Through material experimentation – with plaster, silicone, wax, crystals, textiles and found furniture – the works evoke the surreal, shifting terrains we traverse in our subconscious. Drawing on the legacies of Surrealism and psychoanalysis, Dream City investigates how the material encounter shapes both our waking and dreaming lives.
From the absurd to the poignant, the sculptures balance abstraction and representation, offering physical expressions of the dreamers’ intimate experiences. Displayed in the public space of City Library Gallery, these personal, interior visions are brought into shared view, inviting audiences to reflect on their own hidden landscapes.
This project has been supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants.
