Saluhan Presents: Macho Dancer

  • Free
  • Film

Join Saluhan for the screening of Macho Dancer (1988), by celebrated Filipino filmmaker Lino Brocka. Set under the neon lights of 1980s Manila, the film follows Pol, a young man forced to leave his provincial hometown after the departure of his American lover and former sugar daddy.

MJ Flamiano will introduce Macho Dancer alongside her new artwork, 'queerness isn’t a translation; it’s a white-hot burn in your cheeks,' inspired by the film. The menu will include Tanduay hot toddys with toasted marshmallows and savoury snacks. It can get cold, so rug up and BYO blanket.

Driveway is a new performance program at KINGS Artist-Run of monthly public events. This initiative is supported by the City of Melbourne through the Annual Arts Grants Program.

Content warning: This film contains adult themes. Recommended rating for viewers aged 15+ years.
