Metropolis Festival: Composing Australia
This April, new music takes centre stage at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's Metropolis Festival. Celebrate Australia's contemporary symphonic scene with works by young Australian composers drawing inspiration from city rhythms, mythic poetry and the awe-inspiring natural world.
Across two nights, witness ancient instruments – the didgeridoo and guzheng – come into new alignments with the colours and energies of the orchestra.
Featuring guest artists Mindy Meng Wang and William Barton, and curated by 2025 MSO Composer in Residence, Liza Lim, come along and experience some of the most ground-breaking works in the modern symphonic repertoire.
