Made in China 2.0
Originally commissioned for Asia TOPA in 2020, Made in China 2.0 premiered to sold-out audiences at Malthouse Theatre. Since then, this critically acclaimed work has toured globally in Boston, Adelaide, and the Netherlands.
Wang Chong 王翀 is recognised around the world as one of Beijing’s most significant theatre directors, celebrated for his visionary experiments with classic and contemporary plays. Collaborating with co-director Emma Valente, Chong shines the spotlight on his own experiences as an artist. In this intimate and unexpected solo, Chong takes us deep inside his creative risk-taking to share a personal manifesto for making trailblazing art back home and abroad.
An illuminating portrait of family and popular culture, Made In China 2.0 is a moving examination of the role of the artist and provocateur in uncertain times.
