Jasper Ly and Peter Dumsday: Tenera

  • Music
  • Entertainment

Join Melbourne musicians Jasper Ly (oboe) and Peter Dumsday (piano) for Tenera, a journey through time celebrating the legacy of women composers. As advocates for new Australian music, Ly and Dumsday bring their musical sensitivity and dynamic performance styles to this powerful program.

Featuring works by contemporary Australian composers, including Nat Bartsch, Jessica Wells, Laura Abraham and Helen Gifford, each offering a distinctive voice and approach to the modern landscape. Their compositions are presented alongside seminal works by groundbreaking women pioneers such as Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger and Marina Dranishnikova, all of whom have left indelible marks on Western classical music.

This performance explores the depth, complexity and beauty inherent in these underrepresented voices and seeks to shed light on the enduring legacies of women who have shaped the course of music.
