Italian Cinema Forum: My Brilliant Friend

Following the successful classic and contemporary Italian cinema workshops chaired by Dr Mark Nicholls in previous years, the discussion continues with new instalments for 2025.

The 2022, 2023 and 2024 workshops reflected on the childhood and adolescence of the relationship between Lenù (Margherita Mazzucco) and Lila (Gaia Girace) in discussion of select episodes from series one, two and three. Now the investigation of this fascinating series continues by considering series four, episode three: Compromises.

Dr Mark Nicholls is Senior Lecturer in Cinema Studies at the University of Melbourne where he has taught film since 1993. Mark has worked as a film journalist for ABC Radio and The Age and has a list of over twenty stage credits as a playwright, performer, producer, and director.
