The Same Crowd Never Gathers Twice

This new group exhibition tests the limits of the ‘arena’ — the setting where people come together to witness and participate in public life.

The works consider the social and structural architectures that bind these spaces, and by extension, the elastic relationship between performance and reality, audience and participant. Throughout the exhibition, the physical gallery is offered as a site for critical discussion and performance responses.

Spanning moving image, sound, sculptural intervention and performance, artists include Cate Consandine, Angela Goh, Riana Head-Toussaint, Laresa Kosloff, Yona Lee, Taryn Simon, and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
