Learn to Knit Workshop

  • Free
  • Family and kids

After the roaring success of the previous workshop and endless requests, a new workshop date has been added.

In recent years, knitting and crochet have gained even more popularity due to its calming effects on anxiety and stress. While the repetitive action engages the pre-frontal cortex of the brain, knitting is a wonderful practice for mindfulness - like meditation, but with colours, shapes and fluffy textures.

Learn skills for a lifetime in a supportive and nurturing environment. As everyone has different learning styles, along with group demonstrations, individual attention will also be given to those feeling unsure. You are encouraged to make mistakes and move at your own pace.

Do you have your own knitting ideas or are you struggling to master specific stitches? Bring your quandaries to the workshop and you can problem-solve and ideate with others.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
