Cantastorie: The Sicilian Street Storytellers

  • Theatre
  • Entertainment

This interactive performance invites the audience to dive into the art of contastorie - the spoken word - and cantastorie - the lyrical side of storytelling. These traditional street forms come to life in an engaging experience that combines music and narrative. Through exciting improvisation, the performance transitions between song and prose and is inspired by Nino Randazzo’s play Il Pane e le Rose.

Featuring storytellers Elvira Andreoli and Rosanna Morales, the play captures the essence of Italian emigration to Australia, weaving family dynamics with the challenges, passions, clashes, fears and hopes that define our experiences. It is a heartfelt exploration of values that resonate deeply within us all.

Supported by SACA The Sicilian Arts Collective Australia.
