Louise Marson is an emerging visual artist working in stone and assemblage, living with Disability from an acquired brain injury and mental illness.
Her public installation, Morphing Discards, is a kaleidoscopic assemblage showcasing discarded materials from the Heritage Council Victoria’s archaeological dig of the Metro Tunnel Project, repurposed marble stone works from her personal archive, and discarded oyster shells sourced from Queen Victoria Market.
This exhibition champions Melbourne’s largest historical digs from the early 1800s, while igniting deeper conversations about colonisation, identity, accessibility, collaboration and belonging. Morphing Discards challenges the language of ‘discarded,’ taking into consideration the perspective of an artist living with a Disability and the possibility for material remnants to have a voice.
The artwork is accessible at all times.
