Melbourne Visitor Centre

The Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square is a one-stop shop for visitors offering free brochures, maps and event listings, along with souvenirs and a travel booking service.​​​​​​

The Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square will permanently cease operation at 6pm on Sunday 19 August, to make way for construction of the new Town Hall station as part of the Metro Tunnel Project. New locations for visitor services opening from Monday 20 August will be updated here soon.

The Melbourne Visitor Centre (MVC) is located at Federation Square, opposite Flinders Street Station. Along with face to face visitor information on Melbourne and Victoria, the centre offers:

  • free brochures and maps*
  • guides on events and what's on
  • public transport information and myki Visitor Packs
  • Best of Victoria - accommodation and tour booking service
  • Best of Souvenirs - quality Melbourne souvenirs and gifts

Operating hours
Open daily from 9am to 6pm
Good Friday 10am to 5pm
Closed Christmas Day

Disability access
Street-level lifts provide access to the Melbourne Visitor Centre, situated on the lower-ground level.

Teachers and school groups
Please note that all school groups (whether accompanied by a teacher or not) are required to make a booking prior to visiting the MVC.
