SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has unveiled a brand-new digital exhibition taking guests on a journey through living light inspired by the bioluminescent underwater world. Submerged is an interactive digital experience within the iconic Melbourne attraction that tells the story of the dazzling firefly squid and other ocean animals from a glittering shoreline in the midst of spawning season to a moonlit deep dive into the depths of the bioluminescent unknown.

Submerged is a temporary exhibition open until December 2023 while the aquarium's 2.2 million litre Oceanarium display is renovated. While the Oceanarium undergoes upgrades, some of the incredible creatures – including the larger sharks and rays – will not be visible to guests. Visitors can rest assured that there are still thousands of wonderful creatures to discover throughout 2023.

Suitable for all ages, included in admission price.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection the Wurundjeri, Bunurong, Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wadawurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin have to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We are committed to our reconciliation journey, because at its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, for the benefit of all Victorians.
