  • Learning

Connecting gardens to landscapes is Peter Shaw’s passion and he has a deep love of natural landscapes, the coastal landscape, and native plants. He designs to celebrate Australian plants with their versatility and sculptural form. Peter has a natural flair for creativity ensuring that the design improves the way the garden evolves so it remains truer to itself and its landscape.

That balancing art of respecting and using the power of plants that belong to a place is not easy but Peter has the ability to soulscape gardens, demonstrated during his 25 years of practice. Peter talks about his beautiful garden Sunnymeade, and shares stories of creating great gardens along Victoria’s coast. Peter is the author of Soulscape, a joyous book about how you can take inspiration to work with the landscape in creating your garden. Copies of the book will be available at the talk.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection the Wurundjeri, Bunurong, Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wadawurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin have to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We are committed to our reconciliation journey, because at its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, for the benefit of all Victorians.
