Skateboard Pyrography

Discover the creative process of pyrography in this hands-on workshop led by Iluka Sax-Williams, a Taungurung artist of the Kulin Nation and Tibrean of Zenadth Kes based in Naarm/Melbourne.

Under Iluka’s guidance, you’ll learn foundational pyrography techniques to help develop your own design, then apply your skills to create a unique skateboard deck artwork.

Iluka will begin by sharing insights from his cultural and artistic practice before leading you through your own creative process. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with mark-making, texture, and imagery as you burn your design into the deck.

Open to all young people, this workshop offers a special opportunity to learn from an artist dedicated to preserving and sharing Indigenous creative practices in a contemporary context.
