Pigments of the Past Workshop

Have you ever wondered how ancient people coloured their world before the invention of modern oil, watercolour or acrylic paints?

Join in this school holiday workshop and find out. Touch, smell and investigate natural ingredients that were used to mix paints in the ancient world. Then, experiment with making your own egg tempera paints – that were used to create murals in Mycenaean Greece, ancient Egypt, Babylonia and China – and paint a mural of your own.

Ideal for young explorers aged 7–13 years.
