National Reconciliation Week

  • Free
  • Causes

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievement, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Annually, National Reconciliation Week recognises two significant dates in Australia’s history:

27 May 1967 – Australians voted to remove clauses in the Constitution of Australia that discriminated against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

3 June 1992 – The Mabo decision was made in the High Court of Australia, recognising Native Title and that, in some cases, Native Title had survived British colonisation.

This year there are a number of free events for everyone to be involved in, including an oration by Briggs, a screening of the documentary The Ripple Effect, and author talks. Follow the link for full details.

Get involved and support this year's theme: Be Brave. Make Change.
