Melbourne Harmony Festival

Please note: Due to current lockdown restrictions, this event has be postponed to October 2021.

Eastern Mediterranean cultures have been in existence since ancient civilizations for thousands of years. These people have their unique and shared music with exotic rhythms, scales (makams), and instruments. Some of the instruments were used in ancient Greece, Egypt, Hittite and Mesopotamia.

The Melbourne Harmony Festival presents their traditional dances, concerts, shows, cultural community marquees, art displays and cuisine. There will be ancient traditional instruments like ney, oud, saz, kemence, laouto, tar, santur, darbuka, bendir, plus traditional costumes and dances.

Bringing together these diverse people sharing the same Eastern Mediterranean culture has been a first for our city and the organisers hope it will become an annual event.
