The works in the exhibition Primavera by artist John Mezzini are figurative paintings with themes of isolation, physical expression and sexuality. Most are non-referenced and some are from poses created with physical models. Some are abstract with representational aspects of subjects specifically to define a deep psychological connection with the pose and sense of the inner most private movements of a human being.
Being in that moment, our perceptions are altered by the connection with their being. The paintings are a visual representation of an extremely personal and private state with the purpose of reminding the viewer of meaningful joy of expressive human movement and the associated psychological state.
Primavera is springtime, sometimes dark, sometimes cold but always with the promise of the sun.
