In 2013, award-winning Kurdish journalist and writer Behrouz Boochani fled the Iranian regime and sought asylum in Australia, only to be exiled to the offshore immigration detention centre on the remote Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

The film follows Behrouz as he navigates life in detention, leads the resistance to indefinite detention and finally finds freedom in Christchurch, after seven years of detention.

At this premiere screening there will be a Q&A with Behrouz Boochani, the director Simon V Kurian and Greens Senator Nick McKim, hosted by Pallavi Sharda.
