Attracting Birds to Your Garden

  • Talk
  • Learning

A highlight for many is to share our gardens with birds – watching them feed or take a dip in the birdbath is a joy. For the birds, there are many benefits – our gardens can provide good food and access to shelter and water.

Hear Dr Annie Naimo talk about how you can attract (more) birds to your garden and create a safe habitat even if you can only offer a small space or balcony. It’s an opportunity for us to take care of our feathery local residents and increase the health of your garden and ourselves.

Dr Annie Naimo is the Urban Birds Program Coordinator at Birdlife Australia, where her work is guided by the strong ambitious targets to stop the extinction of birds by 2032, improve the status of 30 percent of threatened birds by 2032 and halt overall bird declines by 2050.

Refreshments available from 1.30pm.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection the Wurundjeri, Bunurong, Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wadawurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin have to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We are committed to our reconciliation journey, because at its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, for the benefit of all Victorians.
