Named after a 1937 surrealist novel by the Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz, Ferdydurke is a bar perched on top of a two-storey building.
There's a great selection of cocktails, wines, and beers, and the food menu is simple - it includes snacks like croquettes, chargrilled corn, and chicken wings, and share plates of cured meats and cheeses. There are also gourmet hot dogs, cheeseburgers and toasties.
An average week sees all kinds of action, from their ‘Laneway Learning’ series to collaborative art projects and live music. The old building that houses Ferdydurke has been nicely restored, making it feel a bit like a New York loft with exposed brick, re-used scaffolding, and floating glass windows.
