Celebrate the invaluable contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made, and continue to make, to our community’s rich history and nation.
In the spirit of Reconciliation, local community members provide their support in sharing this Koolin Ngargee (family celebration) NAIDOC event with the community. This year’s NAIDOC theme, Because of her, we can!, invites Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to come together and participate in activities that celebrate, educate and actively engage in cultural activities. Gather for a Tanderrum Smoking Ceremony and Aboriginal flag-raising ceremony followed by traditional stories. Join in cultural and family workshops including weaving, tool making and medicinal bush tucker tours.
Visit during NAIDOC Week and experience a complimentary Garden Explorer tour focused on Aboriginal plant uses at the NAIDOC event. Enjoy the unique taste of Australian native ingredients with a bush tucker-inspired menu at The Terrace and choose from a range of beautiful Indigenous products in the shops at Melbourne Gardens.
Hosted by Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in partnership with local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations.
