Tamara Murphy is a versatile bassist and composer known for her solid groove playing and lyrical soloing ability. Tamara has received numerous grants to record her music and to extend her craft through international study in the US and Canada. She was awarded the inaugural PBS Young Elder of Jazz Commission in 2011 for the creation and presentation of the work 'Big Creatures and Little Creatures' with her ensemble, Murphy's Law. This work was released in 2012 and was nominated for The Age Genre Music Awards and Murphy's Law was also nominated for an Australian Jazz Bell Award in the same year. Tamara performs regularly with many leading contemporary jazz and pop musicians in Australia.
Stephen Magnusson is considered one of Australia's most accomplished, versatile and distinct musicians with incredible technique and beautiful tone. Given his first ukulele at three, his first guitar at six he began performing at ten. After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts he was appointed on the staff at The Academy of Contemporary Music (Zurich) in 1997. While there Stephen met his long time collaborator – Sergio Beresovsky. He has worked with many artists including Charlie Haden, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ricki Lee Jones, Sinead O'Connor, John Cale, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Paul Grabowsky, Vince Jones and Paul Kelly to name a few.
