Queen Victoria Market is Melbourne’s one-stop Christmas shop to stock up on seasonal food favourites, gift ideas and stocking fillers from the wide variety of fresh produce and specialty merchandise traders. Market traders will once again showcase the festive spirit by ‘decking their stalls’ in celebration of Christmas.
Be sure to take advantage of two sustainable workshops on 9 December. The Beeswax Wrap Workshop will teach shoppers how to make their own beeswax wraps; a simple reusable alternative to cling wrap and plastic bags. The Preserves Workshop will teach market-goers the tradition of preserving produce using modern recipes.
Visitors to the Market will also be entertained with a programme of live entertainment, filling the Market air with songs of Christmas cheer, singing carols on 4 and 11 December.
Little ones can explore the Market guided by their very own Christmas trail map. Gather up the 12 clues to win a great prize. Santa will be pulling up in his sleigh at the Market on 22-23 December to share his festive cheer. Children will also be able to send their wish lists directly to Santa’s workshop at the North Pole via his mailbox, located in C Shed from 1 December.
The Air Canada Ice Rink will pop-up under the Market's 140-year-old historic sheds and invites you to enjoy the magical spirit of a northern hemisphere Christmas during the first three weeks of Australia’s summer (1–24 Dec).
