With the Dai Loong Big Dragon as its centrepiece, Melbourne Chinatown's Chinese New Year celebrates cultural diversity, Melbourne’s historic and contemporary Asian community and migration.

The program of events continues the tradition of cultural celebrations with a range of activities that reflect Melbourne’s multiculturalism and unique characteristics.

Starting in the heart of Chinatown, Dai Loong, Melbourne’s Big Dragon, provides the cultural narrative as it weaves and connects the CBD with modern Chinese culture.

Events include:
- Melbourne Dai Loong Big Dragon Parade (11.30am to 1pm)
- Lion Dance performances
- Hawker stalls
- Cultural performances
– Prayers to Buddha
- Chinese Museum Open Day (free entrance)
