Acclaimed international artist Silvia Calderoni returns to Australia with a revolutionary performance exploring gender and androgyny.
MDLSX is an explosive, psychedelic and solitary hymn to the freedom of becoming, to gender b(l)ending, to being other than the borders of the body.
Platinum-maned punk god/dess Silvia Calderoni uses home videos to blur her own life story with that of the fictional Calliope from Jeffrey Eugenides’ Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Middlesex. Part performance-art monologue and part non-stop DJ rave, set to the music of The Smiths, Vampire Weekend, REM and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, this scandalous theatrical trip will challenge preconceptions and blow minds.
This event is part of BODY, a new major project from Arts House in partnership with Midsumma Festival amplifying the voices of trans, gender diverse and intersex peoples.
