Description

Over the last 200 years people have journeyed from all over the world to make Australia their home. Hear their moving stories at the Immigration Museum.

Explore why Melbourne’s newcomers left their former homes, how they got here, what they found and the mark they made on the city. The museum creatively re-creates the migrant experience via displays featuring film, audio, memorabilia and stories. The result is a thought-provoking and moving experience.

The museum is housed in the grand Customs House building, which originally looked out onto ships tied up at the adjacent Queen's Wharf. The impressive former Long Room is now the museum's central space, featuring giant Ionic colonnades.

The Immigration Museum Shop offers a wide range of souvenirs, gifts and books for the whole family. The museum café is also located in the shop, and offers coffee, soft drinks, snacks, confectionery and more.
