The Koorie Heritage Trust is a space in which people can experience, learn, connect and reconnect with the rich, living Aboriginal culture, heritage and histories of Victoria. This Aboriginal owned and managed not-for-profit cultural centre promotes, supports and celebrates the continuing journey of the Aboriginal people.
It houses the only public collection in Australia dedicated solely to Koorie art and culture. It comprises artefacts and artworks including painting, sculpture, textiles and weaving, along with an oral history collection, photographic archives and a reference library.
Visitors can participate in a public events and workshops; education tours and walks (for school, tertiary and the general public); and Indigenous cross cultural awareness training. The Family History Service links members of the Stolen Generations with their communities.
All products for sale are designed and/or crafted by Koorie and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Visitors can purchase a range of books, jewellery, clothing and artworks, with all purchases supporting the Koorie Heritage Trust and Koorie artists and designers.
