Code Black is a coffee roaster and café. Filter and single origin coffee is roasted onsite and the house blends change seasonally. The signature breakfast dish is applewood-smoked salmon, with horseradish hollandaise and potato rosti. Or try granola with rhubarb.
The lunch menu features a “T-rone” steak sandwich, with jalapeno mustard and fried haloumi, named in honour of the Melbourne street artist. For a lighter option, try the turmeric poached chicken salad. Or the toasted almond salad with mustard dressing, quinoa, goji berry, toasted buckwheat, sprouted lentil, pickled fennel, and water cress.
The café has lacquered green steel beams, plush stools and slatted blonde wood. Additional seating is provided in the mezzanine level, which hangs above the kitchen.
